What are the qualities that please God?
Psalm 24: 3-5 gives us the qualities of one that may enter His presence.
“Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.”(NKJV)
1. Clean hands
There are some things that leave a mark.
The skin of alcoholics turns red and dries out. The eyes of some drugs addicts dilate. Tobacco users’ voices become raspy and lungs turn black.
It’s easy to point to the visible things and say they are bad. But how about lust, adultery, sleeping around, hate, pride, and envy? What kind mark do these leave on your soul? Left unchecked, they will dry out the spirit, blacken the soul and destroy the body.
Those with clean hands will stand in God’s presence. (tweet that)
Galatians 6:7-8 say, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life”(NKJV)
2. Pure heart
God needs hearts that are not hardened by their own desires.
God is looking for the kind of heart that aches for purity and holiness.
Does your heart break when you break the heart of God?
The pure in heart will stand in God’s presence. (tweet that)
3. Not lifted up his soul to an idol
Do you put more value on your possessions than on the state of your soul?
The things we desire can easily become our idols. People can become our idols also. Here’s the test.
Can you do without things? Do you get angry when you can’t get what you want?
How about people? Do you love someone so much that nothing and no one else matters; not even God?
God desires priority over everything and everyone else.
Those who worship God alone will stand in His presence. (tweet that)
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:21(NKJV)
4. Nor sworn deceitfully
Do you make promises that you don’t keep?
Will you say anything to get the sale, even bend the truth?
Have you lied to maintain your reputation?
The truthful will stand in God’s presence. (tweet that)
John 8:31-32, “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
Stand up now and stand in God’s presence.
